Connor F. The HOKA Speedgoat 5 is a nice update to previous models. The shoe is still very reliable and capable, but it is now lighter and a bit more responsive. I was able to use the Speedgoat 5 on almost all of my runs, and the shoe felt great whether tackling technical trails or going for a few hours on smooth paths.
First of all, with its carbon plates and supercritical CMEVA foam, the Tecton X is much more responsive than the Speedgoat on trails. The midsole offers a soft underfoot feel and provides impressive propulsion. The new Speedgoat 5 provides a smooth and enjoyable ride, but the underfoot feel is firmer, and the bounce is more classic and moderate.
